Doom Bar
(H NOTE:
This pub closed March 2012, future uncertain. Small, split-level 18th-century pub serving good beer and food,
with a single bar on the lower level and separate drinking/eating area on the higher. This old granite village pub set
in the thick of Camborne's copper mining district was once a mine captain's house before becoming a miners' ale house;
it has, however, been tastefully modernised and displays an interesting collection of old mining, farming and other
artefacts on the walls and shelves. Doom Bar is the permanent real ale, two 'guests' are rotated among mainly local or
Devonshire brews; sparklers are used by default here but will be removed on request. Real cider is also offered
from one of the handpumps. The food menu is imaginative with a curry night Thursdays, but there is no food Sun
eves, although Sunday roast is available 1200-1600, whilst cream teas are served Fri & sat afternoons. Live
'acoustic' music performs on some Tuesday eves. Tom is the resident ghost.
