Sharp's Doom Bar, Own     (H)
Guest Beer
                         (H
)

Welcoming and spacious pub, with a huge U-shaped bar at its centre, welcoming all ages and varieties of customer. All beers can be served by gravity on request; the guest beer appears in summer and may be from a local brewery such as Penpont; there are several others added during Beer Jazz Week. The pub is named after a locally wrecked ship, which foundered in Oct 1862 on its way from Liverpool to Bombay - some of the ship's timbers were used in the pub's construction. Take time to read the account of the wreck, which occupies one of the walls. Food is available 1200-1600 and 1800-2200; as well as bar food there is an attached restaurant serving a la carte international cuisine with a Spanish flair. Accommodation is available in 4 ensuite rooms and a self-contained cottage.

Reputedly dating from 1543, the building was originally two cottages converted into a carriage house before becoming a pub, probably the oldest in Bude. It now has an L-shaped bar with low ceiling on various levels, with a wooden floor and many interesting corners. Seating is on high-backed settles, and old photos adorn the walls. There are also a family area and separate restaurant/pizzeria. Outside drinking is on a raised patio overlooking the road and river. Food available 1130-1430 and 1800-2100 in winter, 1100-2200 in summer.

A well-appointed and elegant public bar ('Coachman's Bar') sports old photos of the Falcon in its days as a coaching inn, the oldest true coach house in Cornwall. A large function room, which can be divided into two smaller rooms, is available. Food is served all day in summer. Families are welcome, and there is full disabled access.
