(H) Between
a narrow lane and the sea, this old pub was formerly divided into two
bars but is now partly opened out to one, albeit still as distinct
drinking areas. The pub is situated by the beach and boasts fine views
over Plymouth Sound - but beware high tides with easterly gales, as the
exterior can get comprehensively washed by the sea - as pictures on the
wall will testify! The small, wooden-floored bar has snug recesses, is
ship-themed, and has a piano. There are up to 3 constantly-changing real
ales available, mostly from regional or micro breweries, as well as
draught cider from Westons. A welcome halt, both for walkers on the
Cornwall coast path and the less energetic. Live music at weekends. |

stone pub situated, as the name suggests, halfway between the villages
of Kingsand and Cawsand. Sharp's brews the house beer,a blend of Doom
Bar and Coastliner called Cawking Ale. The guest ale appears over the
summer months from Easter. Good home-cooked food is a priority, being
available all day 1200-2100. |

Best Bitter
(H) Cosy,
welcoming village inn which is at once both popular and quiet. The
single but spacious bar room is carpeted throughout and has partly
wood-panelled walls; old prints and photos depicting old Kingsand and
other nautical themes abound. The pub was once the Customs & Excise
house in this village of narrow streets, close to the coastal footpath.
The beers from Sharp's and Skinner's breweries may be varied within the
ranges available. Vehicle access is difficult especially in the summer,
while pub parking is limited to only 4 cars. Live entertainment on Sat
eves, with a quiz night Wednesdays. |
