Star
Inn Skinner's
Betty
Stogs
(H) This
is a traditional 17th century village pub with a rather rambling beamed interior,
spread over three levels with the lowest dedicated to dining. The
bar areas are decorated with photos of old local scenes and
miscellaneous bric-à-brac, and a ship's compass is set into the bar top.
A pool table and two dartboards are sited on the top (bar) level, which
enjoys a wood-burner fire during the winter months. Up to 4 real ales may appear at busy times,
although during the winter this reduces to two. Betty Stogs is
almost always available although occasionally this may be varied to
feature another beer around the same strength; the guest beer is
stronger and is also rotated around the Punch Taverns 'approved'
list. Bar snacks and a 'pub grub' style menu are supplemented by a
more substantila offering of daily 'specials'; food is available
1200-1400 and 1800-2030 daily. The Star is family and dog
friendly, and wheelchair access is possible through the rear door but
not to the lowermost dining area. The local bus service is
limited. |
