(H) Lively community local used by a good cross-section of the community, and supportive of the local sports teams. The pub was originally purpose-built as an extension to a farmhouse, to serve the drinking needs of local tin miners at the end of the 19th century. The original bar and lounge (note the twin doors, still in operation) have been opened out to form one L-shaped, rather narrow drinking area, while a more modern extension towards the rear houses the pool table. The 'guest beer' may be another (seasonal) brew from St Austell, or on occasion from another regional brewery such as Marston or Greene King. The buses stop nearby, including daytime Sundays. |
